TV channels Norway
Norwegian television rests on two pillars: the public broadcaster NRK and an unusually strong tradition of Christian television, with the parliament's own channel in between.
The NRK Family
NRK1 - listed as NRK TV - NRK1 Direkte - is the main television channel of NRK, Norway's public broadcaster, and the country's oldest TV service. NRK2, on air since 1 September 1996, is its deeper second channel, and NRK3 carries entertainment for a younger audience. Children have their own service in NRK Super, while NRK Trøndelag is the regional window for central Norway.
Parliament on Air
Stortingets TV broadcasts the debates and decisions of the Storting, the Norwegian parliament - direct democracy television from Oslo.
Faith and Family Channels
Norway's Christian broadcasting tradition is well represented. Bedehuskanalen - the Prayer House Channel - offers spiritual edification and community programming. TV Visjon Norge is the country's best-known Christian channel, Hope Channel Norge is the Norwegian service of the Adventist Hope Channel network, and Kanal 10 Norge adds its own schedule of faith programming. For younger viewers, TV Vision Kids carries kid-friendly programs.
