TV channels Maldives

Maldivian television is, above all, its national channel. TVM - Television Maldives - is the country's public television channel, working from Malé and speaking to the viewer in Dhivehi.

Its schedule carries the news and the social agenda of the island state, cultural and religious programs, educational and entertainment shows for the inhabitants of the atolls. For a country of hundreds of islands scattered across the ocean, the national channel is the single information horizon: from government announcements to the weather and the religious calendar.

Through TVM one can see how public broadcasting in a small island state is built: one national channel speaking to all the atolls at once.
