TV channels Serbia
Serbian television rests on two pillars: the national institutions of Belgrade and a remarkably alive layer of regional and local stations, from Novi Sad to the Sandžak region.
The Belgrade Broadcasters
Studio B - RTV Studio B - carries a piece of Yugoslav media history: founded as Radio Studio B in 1970 by journalists of the Borba group, it added television in 1990 and became the first broadcast station outside the national electronic media system. N1 is the 24-hour cable news channel launched in October 2014 with headquarters in Belgrade, Ljubljana, Zagreb and Sarajevo, covering Central and Southeastern Europe as CNN International's local affiliate.
Regional Voices
The regional web is where Serbian television shows its full breadth. Sandžak TV is the television station of Novi Pazar, the daily screen of the country's Bosniak heartland, while RTVNP - Radio Television Novi Pazar - serves the region in Serbian and Bosnian alike. From Novi Sad come Novosadska TV, the city station of the Vojvodina capital, and TV Kanal 9, one of the broadcasters that grew out of the 1990s democratic opening of Serbian media. Further afield, TV Bor, Televizija Duga Plus, RTVOK, Televizija Galaksija 32 and Pannon RTV - the Vojvodina minority-language service - keep town-level news, culture and entertainment on air.
Music, Sport and the State Family
IDJTV is the music television of the list, built around domestic pop and regional hits. SOS Kanal Plus carries sports programming, and RTS Planeta is the service of Radio Television of Serbia, the state-owned public broadcaster whose roots reach back to 1958.
