TV channels Saint Kitts and Nevis
The twin-island federation has a television field built around its national broadcaster and a Nevis voice - small in size, but covering both islands' life from Basseterre to Charlestown.
The national broadcaster
ZIZ TV is the television arm of ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation, the state broadcaster whose radio service has been on the air since 1961 - one of the oldest broadcast voices in the Eastern Caribbean. It carries national news, government information and coverage of the federation's public life.
The name itself is older: the corporation traces its call sign to VP2LO, a shortwave station launched from Basseterre in 1935 and renamed ZIZ in 1939 before falling silent. Revived on 5 March 1961 to serve what was then Saint Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla, ZIZ opened its television division on 3 December 1972, and its channel 5 long stood as the federation's only national television service. Government-owned but run on a commercial footing, ZIZ is a member of the Caribbean Media Corporation, through which the region's broadcasters exchange news and programmes.
The Nevis voice and the newest channel
Nevis Television serves the sister island of Nevis with its own local programming. Created in 2001 by the Department of Information of the Nevis Island Administration, it grew from a weekly news roundup into a nightly newscast, adding agriculture reports, interviews and community features, and it follows island life from sittings of the Nevis Island Assembly to the parades and pageants of the annual Culturama festival.
Television Caribbean adds a general channel to the mix - and it is the federation's newest voice. Operated by the Basseterre company Palm Branch Media, it began broadcasting in December 2023 and was formally launched at a regional cable industry conference held in St. Kitts in 2026. Its schedule leans on home-grown talk, news, music and a heavy diet of local sport, from cricket tournaments to basketball and football leagues, and it has exchanged programmes with a partner station in Sint Maarten.
Together they cover the events of both islands - from Culturama in Nevis to the national occasions of Saint Kitts.
