Sports television has its own geography: in one country the air belongs to a national flagship, in another to the channel of a single football club, in a third to a niche racing service. The sports channels gathered here come from every continent - from Canada to Malaysia, from Portugal to Japan - and each of them can be watched online in live broadcast.

Sports broadcasting comes in three basic shapes, and all three are present: public and commercial national sports channels, channels built around a single football club, and narrow services devoted to racing or a regional sports scene. All three rub shoulders here, from state network flagships to single-club stations.

National Sports Channels Across the World

Most of the channels gathered here are the dedicated sports outlets of national broadcasters. Rai Sport is the sports channel of Italy's public broadcaster Rai, covering football, cycling, athletics and the major events of Italian and international sport, with Rai Sport 2, Sportitalia, Luna Sport and the around-the-clock football news of Top Calcio 24 extending the Italian block. ČT sport is the sports channel of Czech Television and M4 Sport the sports screen of Hungarian public television. Match TV covers sports events, exclusive interviews and news for Russian viewers, Sport TV has been Portugal's pay-television home of sport since 1998, and La chaine L'Équipe carries the name of France's famous sports daily onto the screen with news, talk and live sport, joined by Sport en France.

Central Europe and the Balkans add RTVS :ŠPORT from Slovakia, TVCG 2 from Montenegro, Croatia's Sportska Televizija, Serbia's SOS Kanal Plus and Bulgaria's Sportal TV, the television arm of the Sportal portal. Beyond Europe the map runs from CCTV-5 Sport, the sports channel of China's state broadcaster, and İdman TV in Azerbaijan to IRIB Varzesh in Iran, Qazsport TV, the first sports channel of Kazakhstan, KTRK Sport TV in Kyrgyzstan, VarzishTV in Tajikistan, RTA Sport in Afghanistan and Sukan RTM in Malaysia. The Gulf region is especially well represented: Saudi Arabia's state network spans the full family from KSA Sports 1 to KSA Sports 4, the Emirates contribute Dubai Sports 1, Dubai Sports 2 and Dubai Sports 3 together with AD Sports 1 and Sharjah Sports TV, Kuwait brings KTV Sport and KTV Sport Plus, and Oman Sports TV and Bahrain Sport 2 complete the group. North Africa answers with Morocco's Arryadia TV, Egypt's Nile Sport and Tunisia's Nessma Sport, while the Americas are covered by Canada's Sportsnet TV, the Dominican Republic's CDN Deportes with its baseball focus, Cuba's Tele Rebelde, Costa Rica's MZ Sports, Venezuela's Meridiano Televisión and Uzbekistan's Sport Telekanali in Central Asia.

Turkey's Sports Block

Turkey fields the largest national group of all and earns its own paragraph. a Spor and NTV Spor are among the country's leading sports channels, TRT Spor Yıldız belongs to the public broadcaster, Tivibu Spor and sportstv carry live football, basketball and tennis, and beIN SPORTS Türkiye adds the international sports brand's Turkish service. The football club world is present too, with the official channels of two Istanbul giants: Fenerbahçe TV and GSTV Galatasaray, both following their club's matches, training and interviews.

Football-First and Club Channels

Argentina supplies the strongest football tradition of the group: TyC Sports, on air since 1994, DeporTV with its football, basketball and tennis coverage, and America Sports mixing events with sports series and documentaries. Spain's Real Madrid TV broadcasts matches, exclusive interviews and special content from one of the world's most decorated clubs, Portugal's Porto Canal serves the club's home market, and the Spanish-language ESPN Deportes adds the ESPN brand to the mix. Iraq's Al Iraqiya Sport and Bolivia's Bolivia TV 7.2 round out the mixed sports schedules, while Ghana's Gtv Sports Plus and Milan's amateur sport platform CSI Web Tv show how broad the range of sports screens is.

Dedicated Racing and Regional Sports Screens

Racing has a visible niche of its own. The Dubai media family operates Dubai Racing 1, Dubai Racing 2 and Dubai Racing 3, specialized channels for horse, camel and falcon racing with international events. TJK TV, owned by the Turkish Jockey Club, broadcasts live horse races, and Uruguay's Hipódromo Maroñas follows race horses, competitions and results. Regional sports scenes are served by Rete8 Sport, the sports screen of Abruzzo's broadcaster from Chieti, and CCX Media, which covers local prep sports in the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis as a service of Northwest Community Television.

How Sports Television Is Organized

Every channel gathered here also lives among the broadcasts of its own country, so a national sports channel can be found both in this company and in its home environment. Next to each name there is a description and a live stream, which makes it easy to compare how different countries organize their sports broadcasting - from multi-channel state networks to single-club stations and racing specialists.
