Turkmen Owazy TV is a music television channel of Turkmenistan, part of the state Turkmen Television network, broadcasting Turkmen music and cultural...

Television in Turkmenistan is a fully state-run system: eight national channels under the State Committee for Television, Radio and Film, broadcasting in Turkmen from Ashgabat. The country's musical face among them is the music channel.

Türkmen Owazy: the Melody Channel

Türkmen Owazy TV - the name means "Turkmen Melodies" - went on air on 1 January 2009 as the fifth channel of Turkmen television. It broadcasts around the clock, entirely in Turkmen, and its grid is music across the national range: folk performance, classical work and contemporary variety, plus concert and cultural programming from the country's stages.

In a media landscape that press-freedom monitors rank among the world's most closed, the music channel is where Turkmen television relaxes into culture: the songs and instruments - dutar included - that the state is proud to put on show.
