TV channels Kuwait
Kuwaiti television is built around a state institution and a small but colorful private scene. Kuwait Television, the official state broadcaster under the Ministry of Information, supplies most of the national airwaves, while private stations add comedy, music and newspaper-backed news.
The KTV Family
KTV 1 is the flagship of the state network, carrying general programming in Arabic. KTV 2 aims at the country's international audience, KTV Sport and KTV Sport Plus carry the games, and KTV Al Qurain is the family's religious channel. KTV Al Majlis follows the National Assembly and public affairs, while KTV Ethraa and KTV Arabe round out the state offering.
The Private Scene
Al Rai TV is a private satellite channel launched in 2004 as the television arm of the Al Rai daily newspaper. Funoon TV is a Kuwaiti institution of a different kind: an Arabic comedy channel founded by the late actor Abdulhussain Abdulredha, and the first Arabic television channel devoted entirely to comedy. Marina TV runs the music side, and Khallik Bilbait - the name translates as "Stay Home" - adds its own mix to the private field.
Religious Broadcasting
Religious programming has its own shelf. Al Resalah and Assirat TV carry Islamic programming alongside the state network's Al Qurain, giving faith-based television a visible place in the Kuwaiti airwaves.
From a ministry-run flagship to a comedy channel founded by a beloved actor, Kuwaiti television mixes the official and the personal in a way few Gulf screens do.
