Al Rai TV is the television channel of the Al-Rai newspaper group of Kuwait. Launched on 15 October 2004 as the first private channel of the country, it serves Kuwait, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the wider Arab world.

Kuwait's First Private Channel

Al Rai TV broke the state's monopoly on Kuwaiti screens: when it went on air in October 2004, it was the first private television channel of the country. Its schedule is planned around audience research, with content for men, women, teenagers and children alike, and its satellite signal on Nilesat and Arabsat reaches over 20 million Arab viewers across the Middle East, North Africa and beyond.

From News Bulletins to Variety

The channel's grid combines news with entertainment: news bulletins covering Kuwait and the Gulf, Arab series and foreign films, plus variety and talk formats. Its presenters - among them Abdul Wahab Al-Issa, Nawaf Al-Qattan, Mishael Aqeel, Reem Al-Najm and Mohammed Jawhar Hayat - are the faces Kuwaitis know from the news and the studio floors of the Al-Rai media house.
