Al Araby TV 2 is the second channel of Al Araby Television Network, the Qatari broadcaster owned by Fadaat Media. The network was established in January 2015, and the second service was launched on 2 January 2022 as a channel focused on culture and entertainment rather than on news.

The Network

Al Araby Television Network operates two main channels, Al Araby TV and Al Araby 2, together with digital projects that carry exclusive programmes. It maintains eleven bureaus in the Middle East and beyond and relies on correspondents in thirty-three cities worldwide.

The network began with a trial broadcast from London on 25 January 2015 and was based in the British capital for its first years. In 2021 it announced a move to Qatar, heavily promoted on social media, and operations shifted to the planned city of Lusail on 30 August 2022, from where the news channel now broadcasts. Abbas Nasser was appointed executive director in March 2017, and Abbad Yahya became general manager in October 2022.

The Good Detective and Youssef Chahine

The channel's schedule mixes drama, film, documentaries and talk formats. Its programme page lists series such as The Good Detective and a season devoted to the films of Youssef Chahine, alongside Amrika Kharij Al-Sunduq 2, Hamish Jadd, Lil-Hadith Silah and Tarsana.

The channel's site is organised into programmes, documentaries, series and films, with a separate schedule page and a live section for streaming. Output is in Arabic, and the channel addresses audiences across the Arab world through satellite and online distribution.

Distribution

Al Araby 2 is carried by satellite and streamed through its website, where the live feed runs in high definition, and it maintains a YouTube channel under its Arabic name.
