Somoy TV - its name means "time" in Bengali - is one of Bangladesh's leading 24-hour news channels. Broadcasting from Dhaka since 17 April 2011 and owned by the City Group conglomerate, it pairs rolling Bengali news with talk shows, business and sport, and carries a digital following few Asian broadcasters can match.

Bangladesh's YouTube Giant

Somoy's online reach is extraordinary: its official YouTube channel passed 27 million subscribers and in 2021 became the first in Bangladesh to receive the Diamond Play Button. News bulletins, investigative reports and prime-time talk shows - the programs BNP politicians boycotted in 2023 over alleged bias - find an audience far beyond the country's borders.

Surviving a Revolution

When Sheikh Hasina's government fell in August 2024, mobs attacked Somoy's offices and the channel briefly went dark, then sat through a court-ordered suspension before returning under new management weeks later. It has since been named one of the official Bangladeshi broadcasters of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Never Far from Dhaka

Somoy TV live streams around the clock, so anyone who wants to watch this Bangladesh news channel online is never more than a click away from Dhaka's conversation. From breaking news in the capital to the prime-time talk shows the whole country argues about, the channel that survived a revolution keeps broadcasting to one of the largest digital audiences in Asia.
