This informal study group, known as the Capital Area Community Television Association (CACTA), laid the foundation for what would later become "TCTV" or Thurston Community Television, a non-profit corporation that remains dedicated to empowering the community through media.

In 1983, the group formally incorporated as a non-profit corporation, establishing itself as a beacon of community-focused media. By 1986, the organization adopted the name "Thurston Community Television" (TCTV), reflecting its commitment to serve and represent the community it embraced.

One of TCTV's primary objectives is to make programming that reflects and meets the needs of every segment of the community. This commitment is reflected in the diverse range of content available to viewers through the channel's cable networks and streaming Internet platforms.
