BNT 2 is the national public television channel of the Bulgarian National Television. It was launched on 16 October 2011 and is the successor to BNT's second programme, Efir 2, which was closed down in 2000. The BNT 2 programme started in October 2011 in place of all the regional TV centres of the national broadcaster.

In 1999, the Council of Ministers decided to privatise the second national television network. This decision led to the closure of Air 2 on 31 May 2000. With Ekaterina Genova's farewell film "Efir 2 - a photo to remember", the channel said goodbye to Bulgarian viewers at 21:10.
