Al Aoula, whose name means “The First,” is Morocco’s first public television channel. Formerly known as TVM, it is part of the state-owned Société Nationale de Radiodiffusion et de Télévision (SNRT) group and is headquartered in Rabat. The service began broadcasting in 1962 and was the first Moroccan network to produce and transmit its own programmes. It introduced colour broadcasts in 1972.
