Qatar Television (QTV; تلفزيون قطر) is the official state television service of Qatar, broadcasting from Doha. Its first broadcasts began in 1970 in black and white, with colour transmission introduced in 1974. The official channel now presents live streams for Qatar 1, Qatar 2 and a Quran service, alongside a schedule and recent programme clips.

Two channels and a long broadcast history

QTV launched its second channel in 1982 with English-language programmes. The first channel began satellite broadcasting in 1998.

News, society and culture

Recent items on QTV’s official site include Mujaz al-Akhbar (News Brief), a short news update, and Athar (Impact), which discusses the effects of divorce on children. Marah (Traditional Farmstead) presents local methods of raising cattle and making dairy products. The site also features Madaris (Schools), covering education, student talent and national identity, and Mughamarat Jassim wa Shaheen (Adventures of Jassim and Shaheen), a children’s hygiene segment.

Live programming from Qatar

The official website provides live viewing and schedules for both channels, with current listings spanning news, family topics, agriculture, education and children programs.
