MA Live online - Television live

MA Live Live Stream

MA Live is a television service carried by SALTO, Amsterdam’s public-access broadcaster. Its work is connected with students at Mediacollege Amsterdam, who have created radio, television and events around topics that matter to their school community. SALTO lists MA Live among its live video channels, while its programme pages also carry recent MaLive radio episodes. The project therefore brings student-led media to both radio and television audiences.

Student projects on air

In a 2024 report, SALTO described two recurring Mediacollege initiatives: Ma Pride and Ma Request. Students organized and presented Ma Pride, a week of radio, television and events connected with the school’s LGBTQ+ community. The project expanded the school’s Purple Friday observance into a week of interviews and personal stories from students, staff, families and guests. The report says this was the fifth year of the initiative.

Community themes and guests

The same SALTO report says Ma Request organized school events to raise money for Stichting Metakids. It also identifies past Ma Pride guests including Erwin Olaf, Peter Paul van Mulligen, Joris van de Sande, Bastiaan Rosman, Gyor Moore, Rik van de Westelaken and Lisa van Ginneken. These are examples from the 2024 report, not a current guest list. The projects show how student journalism, community stories, radio and television can be combined around a specific theme.

MA Live within SALTO

SALTO’s current site offers MA Live as a live video channel and lists MA Live 2 separately. This places the student project within Amsterdam’s wider local television landscape. Viewers can watch MA Live online through SALTO’s live television service, while programme archives make earlier MaLive episodes available on demand.
