Ashur TV is an Iraqi broadcaster serving Assyrian communities at home and abroad. Ashur Media Corporation’s profile dates its start to Baghdad in 2004, when the channel was established through the media arm of the Assyrian Democratic Movement. The same profile says it later became an independent channel and radio operation with its own budget and board. It lists programming in Syriac and Arabic.

Programming in Syriac and Arabic

The company says Syriac-language programming helps connect with Assyrian viewers and sustain the community’s language. It describes Arabic-language programming as a way to communicate Assyrian perspectives to the wider public. This language approach supports community reporting, cultural coverage and public communication for audiences in Iraq and Assyrian diaspora audiences. Ashur TV’s online television profile reflects its stated aim of presenting community life to people beyond Iraq as well as at home.

A broader community media role

Ashur Media Corporation’s profile also identifies Ashur Radio and the Bahra newspaper as parts of its media work. Across television, radio and print, the organization says it seeks to present Chaldean, Syriac and Assyrian communities to the world. Its stated focus on Assyrian community affairs and language access links local perspectives with audiences abroad.
