BTN TV Live Stream
BTN - the Korea Buddhist Television Network - is the television service of Korean Buddhism, on air since 1 March 1995. It broadcasts from Seoul in Korean and is the country's main Buddhist channel, working alongside the Buddhist radio and newspaper of the same organisation.
What the network carries
The schedule is built on the practice and teaching of Korean Buddhism: Dharma talks by monks and nuns, sutra recitation, temple ceremonies and the great seasonal observances - Buddha's Birthday, the Buddha's enlightenment and nirvana days - carried from the major temples. Meditation guidance has its place, presented for lay practitioners who follow the practice at home.
More than the temple
BTN is a broadcaster as much as a pulpit. It runs a news service on religious and social affairs, documentaries on Korean Buddhist culture and heritage - the mountain temples, the art and the monastic traditions - and programmes on the relation between Buddhism and contemporary life. BTN News operates as a separate outlet with its own video channel, and the network's radio service carries the same material in sound.
Watching
BTN broadcasts in standard definition on Korean cable and satellite platforms and streams online, and its programmes are published on its video channels. For Korean Buddhists and for viewers outside the country interested in the tradition, it is the most substantial television record of the practice.
