Lanzhou Comprehensive News Channel (新闻综合频道) is the first television channel of the municipal broadcaster of Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province in north-west China. Broadcasting in Chinese since 1985, it is the city's principal local news service.

Four channels, one municipal broadcaster

In September 2007 the Lanzhou Municipal Radio and Television Station was formed on the basis of the former Lanzhou People's Radio Station and Lanzhou Television, with both call signs retained. The station operates four television channels: the News Comprehensive Channel, the Lifestyle and Economy Channel — on air since 1999 — the Variety and Sports Channel and the Public Channel. The news channel is the flagship of that line-up, carrying the city's bulletins and current-affairs reporting.

News from the Yellow River capital

Lanzhou is a provincial capital unlike any other in China: known by its old name Jincheng, it sits at what is described as the geometric centre of the country's landmass, and it has been called the Yellow River capital of the west — the river runs through the city itself. As the third-largest city in north-west China and the core of the Lanzhou–Xining city cluster, it is a national transport hub where six railway lines converge, and the seat of major military and administrative institutions.

The news channel's agenda follows that role: municipal government and urban development, the economy of a city built on transport and heavy industry, the affairs of Lanzhou's districts and counties, and the cultural life of a place at the eastern end of the Silk Road corridor.

The channel's live signal is distributed through the broadcaster's converged-media streaming service, with its schedule and reports published on the station's own portal.
