Canal i is a Venezuelan free-to-air television channel owned by the businessman Wilmer Ruperti, on air since 5 October 2007. A general-interest channel broadcasting in Spanish, it mixes news and information with entertainment, live events and sports programming for Venezuelan audiences.
General-interest programming
Canal i's schedule is built around the broad-audience formats that define Venezuelan commercial television. The channel holds the rights to broadcast Miss Grand Venezuela live, one of the country's most-followed pageant events in a nation where beauty contests command national attention. Its live output extends to sport: the channel has carried Venezuelan professional baseball's e-sports competition, including qualifying events for teams such as the Tiburones de La Guaira, broadcasting them live to a young audience.
Alongside entertainment and events, the channel carries informational programming covering Venezuelan current affairs, the economy and the stories of daily life in the country.
A commercial channel with national brands
Canal i operates as an advertising-supported broadcaster, and its commercial portfolio includes some of the largest names in the Venezuelan market — from global consumer brands to the country's telecommunications and airline companies. That advertiser base underpins a channel distributed over the air, through cable and IPTV operators, and through its own streaming service, giving it reach beyond the terrestrial footprint.
Within Venezuela's television landscape, Canal i occupies the space of a privately owned generalist channel — one of the few commercial broadcasters operating at national scale in a market reshaped over the past two decades.
