ENTV Live Stream
ENTV, known on air as Télévision Algérienne, is the first channel of Algeria's national public broadcaster and one of the oldest television services in North Africa. Broadcasting in Arabic from Algiers, it delivers a generalist schedule of news, current affairs, variety entertainment, Algerian series and films to audiences across the country.
Algeria's Oldest Television Channel
Television in Algeria began on 24 December 1956, when the French RTF opened a transmitter in Algiers during the colonial period. After independence the service became part of Radiodiffusion-Télévision Algérienne (RTA) in 1962, was reorganized as ENTV in 1986 and has operated since 1991 under the Public Establishment of Television (EPTV), the state company that manages Algerian public television. For almost four decades the channel was the country's only television service, until the French-language Canal Algérie (today TV2) was created in 1994. EPTV is headquartered on 21 Martyrs Boulevard in El Mouradia, Algiers, and is an active member of the European Broadcasting Union and the Arab States Broadcasting Union.
Programs and Schedule
The daily schedule opens with Sabah El Khir Ya Djazair ("Good Morning, Algeria"), a long-running morning show combining news updates, conversation and features, and continues in the evening with Masa'a El Djazair ("Algeria Evening"), a magazine rounding up the day's national stories. Entertainment slots include M'a B3aziz, a celebrity talk and comedy format, and Taqdim In, built around studio interviews with Algerian artists and public figures.
Socially oriented programmes give the grid its public-service character: Fi Mizan Al-Qanun ("In the Balance of the Law") explains legal questions affecting everyday life, Bi'atna ("Our Environment") covers environmental topics such as water treatment and green energy, and Fi Et-Ta'ani Es-Salama is devoted to road safety. Music programming appears in seasonal formats such as Angham Sayfiya ("Summer Melodies"), while evenings reserve space for Algerian series and films, many of them produced by the channel itself.
The EPTV Family of Channels
ENTV remains the flagship of a public portfolio that has grown to nine channels: the French-language TV2 Canal Algérie, the pan-Arab TV3 A3, the Tamazight-language TV4, the religious TV5 Coran, the family-oriented TV6, the educational TV7 El Maarifa, TV8 El Dhakira and TV9, which carries proceedings of the Algerian parliament. Within this system the first channel keeps its role as the general-audience network of reference for news and entertainment in Arabic.
