Alikhbaria Syria, الإخبارية السورية, is a Syrian free-to-air television news channel owned and operated by the General Authority for Radio and Television, the country's state public broadcaster. It was launched on 15 December 2010 and broadcasts nationwide on digital terrestrial television and by satellite.

A Newsroom at the Centre of the Conflict

The channel's staff worked through the civil war and paid a price for it. On 12 June 2012 its car came under fire in the town of Al-Haffa near Latakia while a crew was covering events there: correspondent Mazen Mohammad was hit in the hand and cameraman Fadi Yakoub in the chest, and both were taken to the National Hospital in Latakia.

In the early hours of 27 June 2012 gunmen attacked the channel's main building in the Damascus countryside. Three members of staff, Zaid Kahel, Mohammad Shamma and Sami Abu Amin, were killed together with four security guards, and the premises were ransacked.

Rebrand of 2025

After the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024 the channel's broadcasts were suspended for several months. It returned with a rebrand on 5 May 2025, under the authority that now runs Syrian public broadcasting.

The relaunched service presents itself as a national news channel: bulletins from Damascus and the governorates, reports on reconstruction and public services, interviews with officials and coverage of the country's political transition.

Access

Alikhbaria Syria is carried on digital terrestrial television and on satellite across the region, and streams online through its website, where the live page carries the broadcast. Recordings and bulletins are also published on its YouTube account.
