Al Arabiya English is the English-language service of Al Arabiya, the Saudi international news network based in Riyadh and owned by the MBC Group. The English edition carries the network's reporting in text and on screen, aimed at readers and viewers outside the Arabic-speaking audience.

The Network

Al Arabiya was launched on 3 March 2003 in Dubai Media City as a free-to-air channel broadcasting newscasts every hour, together with talk shows and documentaries. An early funder described its purpose as offering a balanced and less provocative alternative to Al Jazeera, and it has since ranked among the leading pan-Arab stations.

The network established its position in international diplomacy in January 2009, when President Barack Obama gave his first formal interview as president to Al Arabiya, telling the Islamic world that Americans were not its enemy. In March 2012 the group launched Al Hadath, a channel devoted to political news.

Rebrand and Relocation

On 24 April 2020 Al Arabiya introduced new graphics, studios and a modified logo, its first major rebrand since launch. Mamdouh al-Muhaini became general manager of the network in October 2019.

The following year the operation began moving from Dubai to Riyadh, with the stated aim of producing twelve hours of news programming from the Saudi capital; the relocation was completed in July 2025. The network's websites publish in Arabic, English, Urdu and Persian.

Coverage

The English service reports on Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, the wider Middle East, business and energy markets, and international affairs, with live coverage of major events and analysis from correspondents across the region.
