M News is a Pakistani news organisation working in Urdu across television and a news website. Its portal describes itself as a leading Urdu news service, and its schedules cover national and international headlines, politics, the economy and current affairs.

Editorial Sections

The newsroom is organised into the sections a Pakistani reader expects: latest and Pakistan for domestic reporting, international for world affairs, and dedicated blocks for business, sport, health and science and technology.

There are also lighter sections. Entertainment covers film, television and music, social media follows viral stories and online reaction, and a curious and strange section collects the unusual items that Pakistani outlets often carry.

Reporting Focus

The channel's coverage moves between national policy and the incidents that shape daily life. Recent reporting has dealt with electricity tariffs and the quarterly adjustment sought by distribution companies from the regulator Nepra, a fatal tractor accident near Kallar Kahar, Lahore's place at the top of global air pollution rankings, and the Turkish parliament's ratification of a defence agreement with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

City reporting covers Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore and the rest of the country, with crime, accidents and public services among the regular items.

Distribution

M News broadcasts in high definition and streams through its own website, where the live page runs an embedded player, as well as through several YouTube channels including M News and M News Digital. Video is a substantial part of the output alongside written reporting.
