NE News Live Stream

NE News is a regional television news channel associated with Guwahati and the wider Northeast. Launched in 2019 by iTV Network and AM Television, it was created to bring local reporting and regional perspectives to viewers across the northeastern states.

A regional network across the Northeast

NE News was introduced as a channel for the region rather than a single city. AM Television describes its remit as connecting the eight northeastern states through regional coverage. The channel’s base at Prag Tower in Guwahati places its newsroom in Assam, while its editorial focus extends beyond the state.

The channel’s launch announcement set out an ambition to cover local affairs and public issues across the region. Its stated scope included reporting from different states and communities, with a focus on stories that may not be prominent in national coverage.

Bulletins in regional languages

At launch, the broadcaster said it planned daily state bulletins in local languages. The languages named in that announcement included Assamese, Bengali and Bodo, as well as Nepali, Hindi and English. This multilingual approach reflects the region’s linguistic diversity and the need to report for audiences in their own languages.

The original programme remit also mentioned current affairs, talk shows, cultural features and coverage of subjects such as education, health, sports and tourism. These were part of the channel’s stated plan when it entered the Northeast news market.

Local reporting and public affairs

NE News’s digital publication carries reporting under sections for the Northeast and Assam, alongside national and other news categories. Its current coverage includes developments from across the region, connecting local events with wider public affairs.

Part of the regional television landscape

AM Television lists NE News among its regional media properties. The company describes the channel as a regional network linking the Northeast’s states. Together, the television service and its digital news presence give the brand a distinct place in Guwahati’s wider media landscape.
