Canal 26 is an Argentine news channel broadcasting around the clock from San Justo, in the La Matanza district of Greater Buenos Aires. Owned by the cable operator Telecentro, part of the business group of Alberto Pierri, former president of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies, it concentrates its schedule on newscasts, live reporting and current-affairs programming in Spanish, and its signal also streams live online.

From Variety Channel to All-News Broadcaster

The station began transmitting on 1 April 1996 on UHF channel 26 in San Justo, the frequency that gave the channel its name. Its early format resembled that of a general over-the-air station, mixing newscasts with game shows, music programmes, telenovelas and packaged films, but over the following years the non-journalistic content disappeared and the channel became a dedicated news service. Its master control remains in San Justo, the over-the-air signal is transmitted from the Torre Espacial tower in Buenos Aires, and the channel is distributed through Telecentro and other cable systems across Argentina and, as a subscription satellite signal, across Spanish-speaking Latin America.

Canal 26 was the first Argentine station to abandon analogue terrestrial broadcasting, switching fully to the digital ISDB-Tb standard in November 2011, and launched its high-definition signal in October 2012. Since July 2017 the channel has been carried nationally on Argentina's digital terrestrial television platform. On 31 December 2025 it began broadcasting in 4K, becoming the first news channel in Argentina and Spanish-speaking Latin America to adopt the format.

The daily grid is built on rolling news: regular newscasts, breaking-news coverage and live connections with mobile units positioned at strategic points across the country.
