HMTV is an Indian 24-hour Telugu news channel launched on 12 February 2009 and based in Hyderabad. The channel is operated by Hyderabad Media Pvt Ltd, which also runs the English newspaper The Hans India, and forms part of the Kapil Group promoted by K. Vaman Rao.

From Kapil Group to the newsroom

The Kapil Group behind the channel is a business conglomerate of over 30 companies, tracing its roots to Kapil Chit Funds, started in 1981. Within the group's media holdings, HMTV carries the group's journalism for the Telugu-speaking states, pairing its television newsroom with the group's English-language daily.

Hyper-local coverage of the Telugu states

Viewers follow HMTV for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh news, Hyderabad coverage, politics, crime and current affairs. Its newsroom centres on hyper-local reporting — the pulse of local communities — combined with coverage of political developments in the two Telugu states, international affairs, business, celebrity news, crime updates, sports and Telugu cinema. Special election broadcasts and debate programmes on the states' politics round out the schedule.
