SIC Live Stream

SIC - Sociedade Independente de Comunicação - is Portugal's first private television channel, launched on 6 October 1992 by Francisco Pinto Balsemão's Impresa group. Its arrival ended the public monopoly and permanently changed how Portugal watches television.

The Channel That Broke the Monopoly

News remains its spine: Primeiro Jornal opens the day and the Jornal da Noite closes prime time, both among the country's most-watched bulletins. Mornings belong to Casa Feliz, the lifestyle magazine, and evenings to SIC's own telenovelas - Portuguese novelas that dominate the ratings conversation.

Entertainment DNA

SIC built modern Portuguese TV entertainment: big Sunday variety, talent shows and sharp satire - the tradition that produced Gato Fedorento and the comedy of Ricardo Araújo Pereira lives on in the channel's humor slots and on sister channel SIC Radical.

Since 1992, Every Evening

The channel streams around the clock, so anyone who wants to watch SIC online - in Portugal or in the diaspora - follows the same grid that has competed for the country's attention since 1992. Three decades after breaking the monopoly, the rhythm holds: Primeiro Jornal to open the day, a novela to close it, and the Jornal da Noite in between - Portugal's commercial television, exactly where it has always been.
