Canal 13 Costa Rica Live Stream

Canal Trece Costa Rica (Canal 13) is the public television channel of Costa Rica, operated by SINART, the National System of Radio and Television. Broadcasting from San Jose, it carries national news, cultural and educational programming as the country's public television service.

Viewers follow Canal Trece for Costa Rican news, public-affairs programmes and cultural content produced by the national broadcaster, together with its live coverage of national events.

Since 1978

Canal 13 began transmitting on 15 September 1978 in San José, growing out of the TVEC television project launched earlier that year and established under Law 8346. The channel's names have followed the public broadcaster's identity changes: Sinart Canal 13 at the start, Trece Costa Rica Televisión from 30 October 2017, and Canal 13 again since 2022. Its international programme supply has long come through public-broadcaster alliances, with partners such as Spain's RTVE and the BBC.

Costa Rica's Public Media Family

Within SINART, an autonomous public media institution, Canal 13 works alongside the cultural radio station La Nacional (101.5 FM and 590 AM, formerly Radio Nacional) and the magazine Contrapunto, with the Sinart Digital platform extending the family online. Trece Noticias is the channel's news identity, covering Costa Rican current affairs, while cultural and educational programmes complete the public-service schedule that distinguishes Canal Trece from the country's commercial networks.
