TV Pyramida Live Stream

TV Pyramida is a Kyrgyz television channel from Bishkek - the first independent television and radio company of Kyrgyzstan, created in 1991 and on air since 5 May 1992.

The First Independent Signal

Pyramida opened independent broadcasting in the country and under President Askar Akayev became known as a strong channel willing to criticise the authorities. Under Kurmanbek Bakiyev the pressure mounted and the channel was taken from its owners; after the April 2010 events it was nationalised, alongside the country's Channel 5.

The State's Channel

With its post-2010 status, Pyramida covers the work of all branches of government - the president, the government and the Jogorku Kenesh, whose plenary sessions the channel has broadcast live on Wednesdays and Thursdays, together with the programmes Parlamentsky Ezhenedelnik - Parliamentary Weekly - and Uroki Parlamentarizma - Lessons of Parliamentarism.

A Holding with a History

At its height the Pyramida media holding ran a well-known radio service and was among the first in the country to publish a newspaper. A presidential decree once envisaged a culture, history and language channel on its base - a plan discussed but never fully realised.
