Yle TV2 - Varied Content and Quality Programming.
Yle TV2, more commonly known as Kakkonen, is one of the four television channels owned by Yleisradio Oy. Like its sister channel Yle TV1, Yle TV2 is part of the public service offer in Finland. This means that the channel does not show any advertising and is financed by tax revenue, which enables it to offer a wide range of high-quality content to all viewers.
Kakkonen originated from a television channel called Tesvisio, which was bought by Yleisradio in 1964. The Tampere Radio and Television Centre, which today serves as TV2's central office, was completed in 1974 next to Lake Tohloppijärvi in Tampere. Since then, the channel has grown and developed, offering around 4 200 hours of programming to its viewers every year.
Yle TV2 is known for its diverse programming, including entertainment, drama, comedy, children's programmes, documentaries, sports and much more. The channel aims to provide content for viewers of all ages and interests. Its programming includes popular Finnish drama series, entertainment programmes and cultural classics that are part of Finnish television culture.
Yle TV2 also has a strong offering of children's programmes, bringing joy and learning to the youngest members of the family. High quality documentaries and current affairs programmes offer viewers new information and a deeper understanding of the world.
Since autumn 2013, Riku Saaranluoma, who has played a key role in the planning and development of the channel's programming, has been the channel's Programme Manager.
Yle TV2 is a highly regarded television channel that continues Yle's long tradition of providing high-quality and diverse content to Finnish viewers. Its role as a cornerstone of the Finnish media landscape is significant and the channel will continue to provide entertaining, informative and thought-provoking programmes for all viewers.
