MRT 2 Sat Live Stream

MRT 2 Sat was the satellite service of Macedonian Radio Television (MRT), North Macedonia’s public broadcaster. MRT reported that the service began on 1 October 2012 and carried a 24-hour Albanian-language schedule for audiences in the country and abroad. Its programming drew on MRT’s Second Programme and included original satellite productions. The service was designed for viewers across Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, with scheduling adapted for those time zones.

Reports and programmes for the diaspora

A 2014 MRT report described a schedule with seven to nine hours of first-run material from TVM-2, alongside selected programmes and its own reporting. It named Vendlindja Ime (My Homeland) and Malli Im (My Longing) as report series about the diaspora and connections with home. The same report discussed Më Afër (Closer), a project bringing reporters into diaspora communities, and Tema Jonë (Our Topic), a planned studio discussion project. These titles belong to the period documented by MRT and should not be read as a current programme schedule.

How the public service changed

In April 2020, MRT announced a new channel structure: MRT 2 became a 24-hour Albanian-language channel, MRT 4 was assigned programming for other ethnic communities and documentaries, and separate services covered sport and children’s programmes. This later change is important context for anyone researching the older MRT 2 Sat online television service. Its published history documents Albanian-language broadcasting and diaspora reporting, while MRT’s subsequent channel plan describes a reorganized television portfolio.
