Alalam TV Live Stream

Alalam TV is the English-language news service of the Al-Alam News Network, the Arabic-language news channel of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). The English site was launched on 15 August 2006, extending the Tehran-based network - on air since 23 February 2003 - to non-Arabic-speaking audiences.

The Network Behind the English Service

Al-Alam began broadcasting shortly before the US-led invasion of Iraq, initially targeting Iraqi viewers through a terrestrial transmitter near the Iran-Iraq border. The network keeps its studios in Tehran and news bureaus in Beirut and Baghdad, and its satellite signal reaches five continents. The English service does not mirror the Arabic channel's output: it publishes its own selection of stories.

What the English Edition Covers

The English newsroom organises its coverage into Iran, the Middle East - with dedicated sections for Syria, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen - and world news split by region, alongside variety, photo and video sections. Its output follows the parent channel's focus on the politics and conflicts of the region.
