Nyíregyházi TV (NYTV) is the local television station of Nyíregyháza, the county seat of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county in north-eastern Hungary. Founded in March 1985, it was among the first local television stations in the country, and it remains one of Hungary's largest regional broadcasters by technical capacity, staff and reach. The station is operated by Város-Kép Nonprofit Kft., which also publishes the free municipal weekly Nyíregyházi Napló and runs the city's official portal.
Four Decades on Air
NYTV's programmes were first seen only on the city's cable network; from the mid-1990s the station also broadcast over the air on UHF channel 39, and today it is received on channel 54 within a 25-kilometre radius of the county seat. In 2013 NYTV was the first in the region to switch to digital broadcasting, and since 2025 the station has also published conversation content on Spotify under the NyíregyLIVE name.
News and City Life
The newsroom produces the daily Híradó bulletin and the Képújság newsreel, while Nyíregyháza Most - a public affairs magazine aired on Tuesdays and Thursdays - follows the life of the city. The monthly Közgyűlés covers the municipal assembly, and the weekly Kult-óra is devoted to culture.
Sport and Weekend Magazines
Sport has a strong place in the grid: Lelátó airs on Sundays, Lelátó Extra brings a monthly long-form interview and Nyíregyházi Sportpercek sums up the week's results. Fridays belong to Szieszta and Szieszta Plusz, the monthly Állati Zoona covers animals and pet keeping, and Vetítő screens films on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Award-Winning Local Media
Between 1999 and 2002 NYTV won the Helyi Érték Díj (Local Value Award) - the most prestigious Hungarian prize for local television - every year. In 2003 its Híradó received a special award, and the station took the magazine category prize in 2004 and 2008.
