Miskolc TV Live Stream

For more than four decades Miskolc TV was the municipal television voice of Miskolc, the largest city in northeastern Hungary and the seat of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. On the air since 15 April 1985 and reaching roughly 300,000 potential viewers within a 30-kilometer radius of the city, the station ended its linear broadcasts in June 2026 and continues to release its programs online within the MiNap media group.

From VTV Miskolc to a Round-the-Clock Channel

The station produced its first programs on 15 April 1985 under the name VTV Miskolc. In 1988 it received a weekly window on the Magyar Televízió transmitter at the Avas Lookout during the national broadcaster's Monday break, which made the municipal program visible across the entire city; after MTV introduced Monday broadcasts, the local show moved to early Saturday and Sunday mornings. A dedicated frequency on UHF 55 and the station's own transmitter followed in 1994, putting the city channel on the air six days a week, at first with only two to three hours of weekly in-house production. A ten-year broadcasting contract signed in 1998 committed the station to four hours of original programming per day, and daily broadcasting began on 16 July 1999. In 2002 the channel switched to a 24-hour schedule, filling the time around its own news and magazine output with an on-screen text news service and programs from the Hálózat TV network.

Spring 2006 brought a new 600-square-meter headquarters and updated production technology. The station completed its transition to digital broadcasting in 2015, and in October 2019 Miskolc Television introduced a fully refreshed identity built around a 3D virtual studio.

News and Magazine Programs

At the center of the schedule stood Híradó, the daily newscast covering municipal politics, public services, community events and incidents across Miskolc and the surrounding settlements. The weekly review Krónika summarized the most important developments of the past seven days, and the station's portfolio counted seven magazine programs alongside the news.

The magazine lineup documented city life under titles such as Miskolc Ma (Miskolc Today), Miskolci Napló (Miskolc Diary), Kilátó (Lookout), Promenád, Fogadóóra (Reception Hour), Szemtanú (Eyewitness) and Köztünk élnek (They Live Among Us). Thematic segments served specific audiences: Sportpercek (Sports Minutes) covered sport, Egészségpercek (Health Minutes) dealt with health topics, HívőSzó (Word of Faith) addressed religious viewers and Basszuskulcs (Bass Clef) was devoted to music. The program archive also lists KaTedRa, Acéllábos and Suhanj velem!, together with the Időjárás-jelentés weather service.

City Council on the Air

Public-service duties included broadcasts of the sessions of the Municipal Assembly of Miskolc (Miskolc Önkormányzatának közgyűlése), giving residents a direct view of local government decision-making.

Move to Online Distribution

From January 2025 Miskolc TV extended its content production to the digital platforms of Mikom Kft, the municipally owned media company that also operates the MiNap news portal. In June 2026 the station ended its broadcast transmissions and moved entirely to online publishing. The broadcaster cited the ongoing transformation of the media market and changing media consumption habits, while the municipally owned station's fate was also sealed by the local government's difficult financial situation.
