DAAI TV Live Stream
DAAI TV takes its name from the Mandarin phrase for great love and carries the tagline Televisi Cinta Kasih. The station is non-commercial, broadcasts in Jakarta and Medan, and was founded by Tzu Chi Indonesia as part of the organisation's cultural and humanitarian mission.
Although Tzu Chi is a Buddhist foundation, the channel does not build its schedule around the teaching of one religion. Its output leans on human-interest reporting, documentary and children's programming, with moral questions handled through stories rather than sermons.
News and Documentary Strands
Halo Indonesia is the main news bulletin, broadcast on weekday afternoons, and DAAI Inspirasi runs daily in the early evening with stories of people helping others. DAAI Refleksi is the station's documentary flagship, covering social subjects such as education in remote areas and communities displaced by disaster.
Environmental themes appear in Bumiku Satu, and Jelajah Budaya Tionghoa Nusantara looks at Chinese-Indonesian heritage. Mimpi Jadi Nyata follows people working towards long-held goals, while Bingkai Sumatra reports from the station's Medan base.
Children, Food and Health
The children's block screens animated series, including Petualangan Xiao Li Zi and Cerita Sahabat, alongside the locally produced Anak Indonesia. Cooking programmes such as Dapur Mama and Vegetarian Cooking reflect the station's vegetarian kitchen, and Sehat Ala Timur and Bincang Sehati cover health.
History and Coverage
DAAI TV began trial broadcasts on 1 October 2006 and moved to regular service in 2007, with Jakarta and Medan launching on separate dates. It transmits digitally on 43 UHF in Jakarta through the TVRI Joglo multiplex and on 28 UHF in Medan, using virtual channel 258.
Its reporting has been recognised by the Indonesian television journalists' association, including an award for DAAI Mata Hati coverage of labour issues, and by regional broadcasting commissions in North Sumatra.
