NBC News NOW Live Stream

NBC News NOW is the American streaming video news channel of the NBC News division of NBCUniversal. It was announced on 24 October 2018 under the name NBC News Signal and launched as the network's answer to the streaming services already operating at CBS and ABC.

Launch

The service was to be distributed through NBC News digital platforms and free ad-supported streaming television services such as Xumo and Pluto TV, and it was initially led by Rashida Jones, then senior vice president of special programming at NBC News and MSNBC.

It was announced as focusing on political and social issues in America, and it soft-launched with an evening show hosted by Simone Boyce and a special programme, 218: Race for the House, presented by the MSNBC analyst Steve Kornacki to cover the run-up to the 2018 midterm elections. Nick Ascheim, then senior vice president of digital at NBC News Group, said the service targeted viewers who were up to date on the headlines but wanted a deeper understanding of the news of the moment. A full line-up of programmes was expected by mid-2019, and NBC was the last of the big three American networks' news divisions to launch a live streaming channel.

Output

The channel runs continuous coverage anchored from NBC News studios, with breaking news, correspondents' reports, interviews and explainer segments, and it switches to extended coverage during elections, storms and major national events.

Access

NBC News NOW is carried on Xumo, Pluto TV and other free streaming services, and it is available through the NBC News website and app. Its live feed is delivered over the internet in several quality levels, from 432p upwards, with English captions.
