RT Balkan Live Stream

RT Balkan is the Serbian-language television service of the RT network. It began round-the-clock broadcasting on 27 December 2024, with its news studio complex in Belgrade, and presents itself as an alternative view of regional and global events.

Structure

The channel's output is produced from Belgrade and from bureaus in Moscow, Kosovska Mitrovica, Banja Luka and Podgorica. Its editor-in-chief is Jelena Milinčić, and the network describes the service as covering events that matter to audiences in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

RT Balkan grew out of the multimedia portal of the same name, which opened online and on social media in 2022 and became a widely followed source for Serbian audiences: its videos recorded about 150 million views in 2023, and the figure doubled the following year.

Relativizacija and the interview strand

The schedule combines news bulletins, analytical programmes, topical interviews and documentaries. Its flagship is Relativizacija, an interview programme hosted by the Serbian journalist Ljiljana Smilović, formerly head of the country's journalists' association.

Coverage concentrates on the Balkans, with reporting on Serbia, Kosovo, Republika Srpska and Montenegro, together with Russian and international affairs and the war in Ukraine.

Distribution

RT Balkan is carried by operators in Serbia and in Republika Srpska, including channel 665 on IRIS TV and the Supernova platform of Telekom Serbia, and streams continuously online through the network's DVR feed and the RT Balkan website.

The wider RT network has been banned in the European Union since 2022; RT Balkan operates from Serbia, which is not a member state.
