TV channels Argentina
Television in Argentina grew outward from Buenos Aires, and the geography still shows it: the strongest signals broadcast from the capital while every province keeps a screen of its own. The generalist field belongs to Telefe, Canal 13 (eltrece), América TV and Canal 9 - networks whose news bulletins, series and entertainment formats reach the whole country. Magazine Tv, the Ciudad Magazine project of Grupo Clarín operated by Artear, has been part of that line-up since January 1995, and the capital also runs its own city channel, Canal de la Ciudad.
A news tradition of its own
Rolling news is an Argentine specialty. Todo Noticias - TN - built the country's classic breaking-news operation, C5N runs another newsroom around the clock, Canal 26 broadcasts from San Justo as the property of the cable operator Telecentro, A24 keeps the América 24 grid, and Crónica TV is famous across the country for its red-banner headlines and its speed on breaking stories.
Football and sport on screen
TyC Sports is the country's first sports channel, on air since 1994 and built on football rights and sports journalism. DeporTv adds football, basketball and tennis, while América Sports brings events and sports documentaries.
Public, educational and parliamentary signals
Televisión Pública is the national public channel. Canal Encuentro carries educational and cultural programming, Pakapaka serves children, Senado TV shows the sessions and committee work of the Senate, and Cordoba Canal U is the university channel of the National University of Córdoba.
From Mendoza to Mar del Plata
Regional broadcasting is a genuine Argentine strength. Canal 7 Mendoza - El Siete - is the oldest station in the west of the country. Córdoba appears with Canal 10 Cordoba and El Doce TV, Canal 10 Tucumán covers the northwest, and Mar del Plata pairs Canal 2 with local news and the weather-and-coast formula of Canal 79. The map continues with Canal 13 San Juan TV, Misiones Cuatro in Posadas and Canal 9 Multivision in Salta.
Faith and folklore
Canal Luz, the Christian channel from Rosario, broadcasts evangelical programming for the Spanish-speaking world. Music has its own corner: Music TOP plays Argentine and Latin videos from cumbia and rock nacional to reggaetón, Tierra Mia TV serves the countryside, while Argentinisima Satelital keeps folklore and tango on screen.
