Nevada County Media Ch. 11 Live Stream
Nevada County Media Channel 11 is the public access channel of Nevada County, California - the community's own outlet for Grass Valley, Nevada City, Truckee and the Gold Country towns of the Sierra foothills. Operated by NCM, a 501(c)(3) non-profit known for most of its life as NCTV and serving the county for more than thirty years, it carries resident-made programs, local news and civic coverage, and its live channel also streams online.
The channel reaches homes on the Comcast and Optimum cable systems and streams worldwide, while the organization behind it also maintains separate government channel streams for meetings and civic sessions.
Nevada County Now and the Weekly Rhythm
Nevada County Now anchors the schedule: a community news program made for locals by locals, with studio hosts and field reporters covering stories across the county, from road conditions and mountain weather to candidate forums ahead of election season. Around it rotates a shelf of homegrown series: Hidden Gems on the places and people that make the county unusual, On the Streets from community events, Translate This decoding the county's bigger projects, and All Things Economic, in which Gil Mathew makes economics understandable.
Health, Schools and Local Screens
Ed Talk pairs the county superintendent of schools with guests on the education system; Doc Talk sees Sandra Barrington in conversation with the staff of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital; and Healthy Bites shows how easy and delicious eating well can be. Local filmmakers get Thru the Lens, local musicians get their own showcase, and community spotlights and public-service announcements round out the day.
A Media Center, Not Just a Channel
Nevada County Media runs the whole operation from Crown Point Circle in Grass Valley: a production facility where residents take workshops and classes, join a hands-on internship program, borrow equipment and work with a for-hire production team. Funding comes from public access fees, donations, grants and paid services; content submitted by community members fills the program guide, and the annual HorrorFest film festival - along with decades of Fourth of July parade coverage - keeps the county's own television archive growing, year after year.
