NBC26 first went on the air in 1981 as an independent station, WLRE. Its call signs changed to WGBA in 1985 when it became a Fox affiliate. It moved to NBC in 1995, and Journal Communications bought the station in 2004. It became a member of the EW Scripps family in April 2015. NBC26 broadcasts 22 hours of local newscasts weekly and airs iconic programs such as the Olympics, Sunday Night Football, Days of Our Lives and Saturday Night Live.
