The broadcaster describes the channel as a free to air service carried by major DTH and cable networks, and its official website publishes news updates for Tamil speaking audiences.

Tamil Nadu and national reporting

The channel’s news agenda follows events in Tamil Nadu as well as stories with national significance. National coverage places local news in a broader Indian context, while current affairs reporting gives audiences information about decisions and events beyond their immediate district. Tamil language journalism is central to this work.

A television service from the Daily Thanthi group

Thanthi TV belongs to the Daily Thanthi group, a media company whose portfolio includes print, radio, television and IPTV brands. The group’s About page describes Thanthi TV as one of its Tamil news channels and notes its reach among viewers in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere in India. The channel is also carried through cable and DTH networks, giving it a place in both the group’s broadcast operations and its online news presence.

Public interest and voter awareness

Thanthi TV received the National Media Award for Best Campaign on Voter Education and Awareness from the President of India. The award recognized its campaign to encourage ethical voting and wider electoral participation during the 2016 Tamil Nadu State Assembly Election. This documented recognition connects the channel’s news work with public information and civic participation.

Today the broadcaster combines its television identity with a regularly updated news website and a dedicated Live TV section. Its coverage continues to include Tamil Nadu affairs, national events and current issues. For viewers seeking Tamil news and public affairs, Thanthi TV represents the television news service of the Daily Thanthi group.
