News 7 Tamil is a Tamil-language news channel headquartered in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. Launched on 19 October 2014 by the Tamil Nadu-based VV Group, it broadcasts a mix of news bulletins, discussions, documentaries and infotainment programmes for Tamil-speaking audiences.

Bulletins and Fast Updates

The channel's schedule is built around frequent news updates from Tamil Nadu, the rest of India and abroad. The evening bulletin Today's Headlines sums up the day's main developments, while Super Fast News compresses the top stories into a quick-fire round-up, keeping viewers briefed around the clock.

Tamil Nadu Politics and Civic Life

Political coverage follows the state's major parties and leaders, with regular dispatches from districts across Tamil Nadu. Much of the channel's journalism deals with everyday civic life: a sanitation workers' strike at Chennai's Koyambedu market, state government decisions on schools and public holidays, court petitions and police investigations such as the Theni jailbreak case.

Documentaries, Discussions and Community Honours

Beyond the daily headlines, the channel airs documentary and discussion formats that give extended treatment to social issues. It also stages its own Nalam Award, a ceremony honouring social workers for their contributions to communities across Tamil Nadu.
