News1 India is a Hindi-language news channel from India that has built its identity on ground-level journalism from Uttar Pradesh, the country's most populous and politically influential state. The free-to-air broadcaster was launched in 2017 by journalist Anurag Chaddha and addresses Hindi-speaking audiences across North India with a mix of breaking news, regional reporting and national coverage.

Uttar Pradesh at the Centre of the Grid

The newsroom treats Uttar Pradesh as its primary beat: reporters are positioned across the state's districts, and dedicated city desks operate in Kanpur and Lucknow. Stories from smaller districts and towns receive the same weight as developments in the state capital, reflecting the broadcaster's stated aim of delivering fast, accurate and impartial news to every corner of the region. State politics, crime, education and public health feature prominently in daily output, while separate state sections follow events in Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat.

Founder and Editorial Leadership

Anurag Chaddha heads the channel as its founder and chief managing director. The organisation's stated philosophy treats news not merely as information but as a catalyst for change, with reporting that examines the impact and significance of events rather than stopping at the facts alone. Abhishek Tyagi serves as director, and the editorial team includes Dr. Varun Upadhyay, a former editor of the Varanasi unit of the Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar, who works as a zonal editor.

What the Channel Covers

Beyond its regional core, the schedule spans national and international news, politics and public issues, business and markets, sports, entertainment, lifestyle and fashion, alongside religion, weather, automotive and technology segments. The channel sums up its approach with the motto Khabar bhi Asar bhi — news with impact — signalling an editorial focus on why a story matters, not only on what happened.
