Live Times launched as a digital-first operation and describes itself as India's first global multicast news hub - a Hindi news channel that began with a website and a network of bureaus rather than with a legacy satellite footprint. Its editorial motto, borrowed from the Upanishads, is Satyam Shivam Sundaram, and the channel frames its journalism around verification at a time when fake and deep-fake material travels faster than reporting.
Around the clock, the channel runs national and regional bulletins with a strong tilt towards state politics, and its output is organised into the sections that structure Indian news agendas: national, state, elections, sports, business, entertainment, religion and international affairs.
A bureau network across the Hindi belt and beyond
What distinguishes Live Times is the breadth of its own reporting staff rather than a single studio. Its newsroom lists editors and correspondents in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir, alongside a Delhi bureau, so much of the schedule is built from district-level and state-level stories rather than from national desk summaries.
The leadership team is drawn from Indian television news: Dilip Singh is the founder, Deepak Chaurasia heads news as director, and Apoorv Srivastava is managing editor. The channel also publishes its own team page and recruitment notices, unusual transparency for a broadcaster of its size.
Elections, the SIR dispute and the argument over voter rolls
Election coverage dominates the channel's current affairs output. Live Times has followed the disputes over SIR - the special intensive revision of electoral rolls - through hearings in the Supreme Court, the Election Commission's affidavits and the opposition's protests, and it has tracked the political fallout in Uttar Pradesh ahead of assembly elections, including the panchayat-level argument over voter lists.
Beyond elections, its daily mix includes parliamentary and party politics, crime reporting, welfare schemes such as Maharashtra's farmer support programme, defence and technology stories, health, education and jobs, and business news - the ordinary furniture of a Hindi news channel, delivered with an emphasis on state-level consequence.
Religion, culture and the wider world
The channel keeps a dedicated religion section alongside its international desk, covering festivals, temple events, gurpurabs and cultural debate, and it has given space to controversies such as the row over the entry of pastors into a village in Ranchi and the resulting argument about tribal custom and religious freedom.
Its international coverage is built around the stories that dominate Indian drawing rooms: the confrontation between Iran and the United States, the Saudi role in the Red Sea and Yemen, and the effect of Gulf shipping routes on Indian fuel prices and exports. That mix - local bureau reporting, election law, faith and foreign policy - defines a channel that positions itself as an alternative to the big national networks rather than a copy of them.
