In Yerevan, the news of the day has a home: the newsroom of the Public Television of Armenia, which puts out the country's bulletins under the name 1lurer - "News" - and streams them as First Channel News.

The State Newsroom

The service belongs to Armenia's state broadcaster, the channel Armenians call simply "the First". Where the main channel carries the full grid of entertainment and culture, this news arm does one thing and does it continuously: the news of Armenia, in Armenian, around the clock. It is owned by the Government of Armenia - the public's broadcaster, doing the public's news.

The desk covers Yerevan and the regions, the government and the church, the border districts and the diaspora. Its journalists file for the flagship's evening bulletins and feed the continuous news output in between, following the country's politics, economy and society.

Armenia, In Its Own Language

For Armenians abroad - and there are more Armenians outside Armenia than in it - the channel is a steady link home: the country's events, in its own language, as they happen. Broadcasting from Yerevan, First Channel News is the public voice of Armenia's daily life.
