Qazaqstan TV is the state national television channel of Kazakhstan, on air since 8 March 1958. Part of RTRK Kazakhstan JSC, the national broadcasting corporation, it broadcasts around the clock in Kazakh.

Viewers follow Qazaqstan TV for national news, social talk shows including Қазір айтайық, the TV series such as Құдаша қыз, and entertainment projects from SuperStar KZ to Prime Era and Бәрекелді!.

Since 1958

Kazakh television began on 8 March 1958 with the first test transmission of the Alma-Ata studio, growing through the Soviet decades into Kazakh Television - a separate programme covering the whole republic, as regional studios opened from Ust-Kamenogorsk and Karaganda to Dzhezkazgan, Petropavlovsk and Semipalatinsk. After independence the channel passed through the state broadcasting reorganizations, carrying the names Kazakhstan 1 and then Qazaqstan, and since 1 September 2011 it has broadcast exclusively in Kazakh, around the clock, from the Qazmedia Ortalygy media centre in Astana.

In January 2022, during the unrest in Kazakhstan, the channel's Almaty branch building was stormed and damaged.

Today the schedule combines informational and educational programmes with films and series in Kazakh, making Qazaqstan TV the country's main Kazakh-language screen; its international service extends the channel to viewers abroad, with the live signal on qazaqstan.tv.
