BHT - BHT1 - is the national public television channel of Bosnia and Herzegovina, operated by the country's public broadcaster, Radio and Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT), from Sarajevo.

Broadcasting Since 1961

The channel started broadcasting on 1 June 1961, relaying programmes produced in the then-Yugoslav network, produced its own news magazine from 17 March 1969 and aired its inaugural Dnevnik on 25 February 1971. In 1975 it migrated to the Television House.

War and Rebirth

The station survived the 1990s war years - a period when it achieved record viewing figures - and resumed as BHTV1 in 2002 following the passage of the PBS BiH Act, regaining its own frequency in August 2004 after years of sharing airtime with FTV and RTRS.

Two Alphabets, One Country

BHT1 broadcasts 20 hours a day in both the Latin and Bosnian Cyrillic alphabets, covering more than 97% of the country's territory with news, talk shows, documentaries, sports, films and children's programmes.
