Surgut 24 is the television channel of Surgutinternovosti - the TV and radio company of Surgut, one of the largest media holdings of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District, Russia's oil capital.

Founded on 18 October 1990, Surgutinternovosti became a pioneer of local television in Yugra - and remains the region's first and only non-state independent broadcaster, with no state structures or commercial organisations among its co-founders.

A Pioneer of Local Television

The company was created by Sergey Kataev - a member of the Union of Journalists of Russia and an academician of the International Academy of Television and Radio - and its independence and professionalism have kept it at the centre of the region's media life for more than three decades.
