Channel One Russia (Первый канал) Live Stream

Channel One Russia, known in Russian as Первый канал (Pervy Kanal), is the flagship federal television channel of Russia. Broadcasting from Moscow, it descends directly from the First Programme of Soviet Central Television and today occupies position one in the first multiplex of Russian digital television, with dedicated feeds for the country's time zones and distribution by satellite and cable. The live stream carries the channel's federal Moscow feed.

The station is operated by AO Pervy Kanal, a state-controlled joint-stock company led by general director Konstantin Ernst since 1999. An international version, Channel One Worldwide, has distributed programming to viewers abroad since 2002.

From Soviet Programme One to Pervy Kanal

The channel's lineage reaches back to the beginnings of Soviet television: experimental transmissions began in 1931, and the Moscow Television Centre launched electronic broadcasting on 10 March 1939. Interrupted by the war, broadcasts resumed in 1945, and the channel became the First Programme of USSR Central Television - the principal television service of the Soviet Union.

In April 1995 the channel was relaunched as ORT, Public Russian Television, and on 2 September 2002 it took its current name, Первый канал. High-definition broadcasting began in 2012.

Vremya and the News Tradition

Vremya ("Time"), the nightly news program airing at 21:00, has been on the air since 1 January 1968, making it one of the longest-running television news programs in the world. It is presented by Ekaterina Andreeva and Vitaly Eliseev.

Current-affairs programming includes Vremya Pokazhet and Bolshaya Igra ("The Big Game"), a political talk show hosted by Vyacheslav Nikonov, Dmitry Simes and Dmitry Suslov, while Dobroe Utro ("Good Morning") opens the weekday schedule.

Game Shows, Entertainment and KVN

Kto Khochet Stat Millionerom? (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?) has been a fixture of the channel since 2001 and is hosted by Yulianna Karaulova, the show's first permanent female host. Golos (The Voice) reached its fourteenth season in 2026.

Pust Govoryat (Let Them Talk), hosted by Dmitry Borisov since 2017, returned in an updated format in late 2024, while Muzhskoe / Zhenskoe (Male / Female), with Alexander Gordon and Yulia Baranovskaya, and Zhit Zdorovo! (Live Healthy!) with Elena Malysheva anchor the daytime lineup.

Long-running classics complete the schedule: Pole Chudes (Field of Wonders), Chto? Gde? Kogda? (What? Where? When?), Davai Pozhenimsya! (Let's Get Married!) and the KVN Higher League, hosted by Dmitry Khrustalev. The channel's New Year's Night broadcast is one of the most widely viewed television events in Russia, and in 2025 Channel One aired the revived Intervision song contest, having hosted the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow.
