Canal Encuentro Live Stream

Canal Encuentro is an Argentine public television service devoted to education and culture. Launched in 2007, it uses documentaries and original programmes to explore science, history, arts and social issues.

Learning through documentary and culture

Canal Encuentro’s programming explores science, history, technology, literature, music and Argentine life. La casa periódica (The Periodic Table House) combines science and comedy to explain chemical elements, with Diego Golombek, Paula Carruega and Julián Lucero. Un loco deseo de belleza (A Mad Desire for Beauty) follows the life and work of writer Manuel Puig, presented by Sergio Pángaro. These examples show how the channel uses documentary storytelling to make complex topics accessible.

History and public debate

The channel also examines Argentina’s past and contemporary society. In 8 lecciones de historia (Eight History Lessons), historian Javier Trímboli and other educators explore how history is taught. Mentira la verdad (The Lie of Truth), presented by philosopher Darío Sztajnszrajber, uses philosophical questions to discuss everyday ideas. The catalogue includes further series on human rights, science, education and cultural identity.

Resources for viewers and educators

The online catalogue pairs programme descriptions with educational materials, extending documentaries and learning series to viewers and teachers beyond the broadcast.
